Ideas for projects with countries

  • write plans for fast-food restaurants in a country, taking into consideration how the restaurants can be adapted to the countries' unique cultures; and draw pictures of their restaurants.
  • Create a travel brochure of podcast of a country.  Take the role of a tour guide.
  • write stories pretending they are on a trip with a friend from the country they have researched, visiting a country that neither person is familiar with and describing their reactions to the new culture.

  • Essential Questions

  •  Why is "where" important?

  •  Why is/was ________ located there?  (e.g., capitol, factory, battle, etc.)
  •  What makes places unique and different?
  •   How does geography, climate and natural resources affect the way people live and work?
  •  How does where I live influence how I live?
  •  Why do people move? If you were going to move to another country, where would be the  best place to live and why?
  •  If your family moves to another country, how would you convince your family what part of the country to move to? Why?
